Junior Surf

Junior Surf is designed to provide an educational experience in a wide range of subjects and skills within the aquatic/marine environment and allows preparation of junior members for eventual transition into the Lifeguarding and sporting aspects of our organisation.

Junior Surf at Whangamata SLSC is traditionally run every Sunday from Labour Weekend until Easter weekend, with Nippers (aged 5-10) from 10am-12pm and Cadets (11-13) from 1pm - 3pm.  We also run Junior surf for approx four weeks over the main school holiday period.

To Enroll in Junior Surf please come up to the club rooms approx 15 minutes before the lesson starts.  Subs for this season are $40 per child.

Included in the subs is tuition for the entire season (including the holiday programme), use of junior surf equipment and showers and also a club skull cap.  Rash shirts are also available for purchase at a discounted rate of $20.

Junior Surf at Whangamata SLSC has come on in leaps and bounds with a membership of over 180 last season!

Parental involvement is also strongly encouraged!  The more parents that help on the programme the safer it will be and the more your children will get out of it!

If any parents are interested in helping to coach or instruct junior surf there are a large number of surf coach courses being run every year by surf life saving BOP, these courses are offered to parents who are willing to help out at NIL COST.
